About one-third of consumers said that the top reasons to shop online are the ability to shop 24/7, followed by lower prices, convenience, and time.

Half of the consumers said that one of the most significant drawbacks of online shopping is that the consumer cannot touch, feel, or try a product at the time of purchase, which the consumer can easily do from the physical shopping experience. There is also the possibility of damage to fragile items. There is a lack of interactivity in online shopping. Nowadays, 81% of retail shoppers conduct online research before buying. There is also an issue of scams and fraud and as well as delay in delivery. If we take the percentage of each year, then each year online sales continue to increase, and almost 64% of the buyers are stating that they prefer making purchases online compared to going into a store.

About 15% of buyers shop online weekly, and 28% of consumers will purchase online a few times a month. 37% of consumers shop less often than a few times a month. About 20% of people say that they never shop online.

Brick and Mortar:

Due to the rapid growth of e-commerce, most brands are looking to establish a physical experience in 2019 and beyond. Those brands with a strong online presence can see more significant benefits when they develop physical stores. Most of the time, its services must include providing better experiences and more flexible purchasing options. One big reason to shop in-store as compared to online is to see, feel, and experience the product before shopping. According to Google calculation, about 61% of consumers would shop from the brands with a physical location compared to the online brands only. Nearly 80% of the shoppers go in-store when there is an item that they need or want immediately. About 57% of consumers say that the closing of many department stores has negatively and badly impacted their perception of e-commerce.

Customer Experience:

Consumers have more options, and consumers will choose those brands that offer exceptional experience along online and offline channels. Brands can no longer afford to compete on the price alone by making room for the customer experience and being a real competitive differentiator. 80% of the customers say the experience a company provides is as important as its products and services.

Social Commerce:

Social shopping, or social commerce, is the coming together of online shopping and social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, twitters, and Pinterest. Social channels have integrated seamless shopping and purchase functionality into their platforms and make it easier for the brands to sell on the social network. According to the data compiled by big commerce, about 30% of the online shoppers would likely purchase a social media network. Almost three out of ten consumers would follow a Facebook brand, while 20% purchase from the social network.

According to the statistics from Pinterest itself, 73% of the users believe content from brands makes the platform more useful. In comparison, 61% of the consumers purchased after seeing the business content on the site.

Mobile Commerce:

Nowadays, with more than half of all internet traffic now coming from a mobile device, most smartphone owners use a mobile device to shop. To shop from a mobile phone is become common in present days. Most of the consumers say that they use multiple devices for completing their everyday tasks. While some of the people as they use their mobile device to research before making a purchase.
